Wanting to get the latest news in dog shows....go to the Onofrio dog show site, call or email them. Stating that you would like to be on their list for shows in your area, you will then receive listing of events in your surrounding area. A few local clubs usually are in charge of one of the days shows close to the area, you'd be surprised at how many All breed clubs are close to your hometown. Go to a few shows and see what it involves, fun to sit at the sidelines and watch. Keep a positive attitude, be polite, and look for a mentor with the same qualities.
